Former Manager of Britney Spears is to SUE for Defamation

"Sam Lutfi, the former manager of Britney Spears, is to sue the singer and her parents for defamation and breach of contract, it has emerged.

A new restraining order against Lutfi was granted last week over his alleged harassment - along with photographer Adnan Ghalib and attorney Jon Eardley - of Britney and her family.

But Lutfi - who was alleged to have used prescription drugs in a bid to control the Toxic star - has hit back with his own lawsuit, also claiming libel, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

"Jamie and Lynne [Spears] launched a campaign of lies and intimidation designed to destroy Lutfi and drive him out of Britney's life," People quotes court papers as saying.

"This campaign also provided Jamie with the opportunity he needed to obtain an appointment as Britney's conservator."

In court papers filed on Tuesday February 3rd, Lutfi cites Lynne Spears' book Through the Storm as including "lies and fabrication" about his management of her daughter.

"Since the publication of the book, Lutfi has been subjected to unfathomable amounts of ridicule and scorn," and has received "numerous death threats from overzealous fans," the lawsuit claims, adding that Lutfi can "no longer find work as a counsellor of at-risk teens."

He claims to have received "injury to his nervous system and person" after being punched by Britney's father Jamie in January 2008 - when the singer's family came to her aid after a perceived mental breakdown - and also alleges to have made an oral agreement with the Womanizer star to receive 15 per cent of hearings as her manager.

Britney's representatives have not yet commented on Lutfi's claims."
